Dictation is a great way to get your thoughts down - quickly, without having to type a lot of writing. The translations may not always be perfect, but it's still a useful tool, that always seems to keep getting better.
On a iPhone or iPad, you can dictate to Siri, or the Dictation tool - like in Messages. Now there is no Siri yet on Mac's, but there is the Dictation tool.
The Dictation tool can be switched on in 'System Preferences' on your Mac, and after you can access the dictation with a simple keyboard shortcut - like pressing the 'Fn' key twice.
One thing you may not have known is you can use dictation without even being connected to the internet. A really useful, and a quick way to use the feature. 'Enhanced Dictation', is what it's called, and it'll allow offline use, continuous dictation, with live feedback, which means it'll type as you talk, without having to first stop - send to the servers on the web - translate - then send back.
How To Switch On Dictation On Mac OS X Computers:

How To Activate Offline 'Enhanced Dictation' On Mac OS X Computers:
Now a warning: activating 'Enhanced Dictation' will download a large file from the internet - which will be over 300mb...
1. On the same Dictation tab where you switched on Dictation, under the On/Off switches you'll see a option for Enhanced Dictation.
2. Check Enhanced Dictation on.
