Mac Tip: How To Lock Your Mac Screen Without Putting It Into Sleep Mode

In many situations, you might want to lock your Mac Computer because you'll be monetarily away, but you don't want to put the Mac into sleep mode because you may have background application running. Here's how to lock only the screen.

To lock your Mac's screen, without putting it into sleep mode:

On new Mac's (ones without an optical disc drive):

At the same time press the keys:
Control + Shift + Power.

On older Mac's (the ones with optical disc drives):

At the same time press the keys:
Control + Shift + Eject.

*Note that if you're Mac is not plugged into a power source, it will eventually go into sleep mode. Also due to your set power settings, your Mac may also eventually go into sleep mode.
