Selfies + Drawing = French Girls - Free iPhone App

What do you get when you combined selfies with drawing? You get the app French Girls by Appek LLC.

French Girls is a sharing, drawing app (not just for girls) that encourages you to upload your selfies. Other users of the app will then see your photo and will draw a portrait of you.

The basic concept of the app is - upload your photo (which will share it to the world), and wait for someone to draw a portrait of you (which will also be visible to everyone). The other half of the app is: pressing the draw button - and drawing an portrait of someone else.

There are 4 main buttons in French Girls.
- Draw (pencil) - Randomly get given an photo of a person to draw.
- Upload Your Picture (camera) - This is where you can take a selfie and upload it to the app.
- View Gallery (eye) - See a feed of all the photos and drawings by everyone.
- Your page (French man) - This is where you can see all the drawings you've made and all the photos you've uploaded.

You can also share photos from the app to various social sites like; Instagram, Facebook and Twitter. Or download photos - and report inappropriate pics.

The app has a simple and easy to use interface.  And while there are some good artist on the app that draw some nice pictures of their subject (they are rare), most of the drawings are all crude, people advertising their social network pages, or are inappropriate.

I recommend downloading the app if you want to laugh at a crappy drawing some random stranger has drawn of you. Or if you like drawing strangers.

French Girls is a FREE app (with in-app purchases available) made for iPhone. Download French Girls from the App Store

Kids App DRAWNIMAL for iPhone/iPad Combines Learning The Alphabet & Art Into One

DRAWNIMAL by Lucas Zanotto is Apple's 'App Of The Week', which means you can download it for FREE this week! (Saving $1.99).

DRAWNIMAL is a app for young kids that combines the alphabet and art. The app contains minimalist animal character drawings, and has sounds that says the letters of the alphabet and gives you an animal example. For example when you press the play button, the voice will say: "A, for alligator."

To be honest, I don't like this app, and here's why:

First off, it's really simple. Yes, the app itself is made nicely, however - there is only one thing "A" is for. Once you run through the app, you're not getting anything different the second time.

My second dislike of this app is with it's "art" element. The app tells you to place your device (the iPhone, iPod Touch or iPad) down on a piece of paper, or a surface you can draw on. And then as animation shows on the screen, draw around your device - completing the animal picture... Now, I don't have any kids, but the first thing that came to my mind was, I don't want marker or pencil markings on my devices. And that surely will happen with any kid ...and maybe some adults.  I'm sorry, but if you put a markers near your device, it's sure to get on it, eventually. And if the adult draws the picture, then what's the point? Also think about all the paper you're wasting, for half a drawing.  If you do this, please, at least use a whiteboard.

The app is also British. It says "zed" instead of "zee", and has a British accent. So americans, be warned.  There are five languages available: English, Spanish, French, Dutch, and Italian.

DRAWNIMAL is a cute app for kids. Currently free this week, as it's Apple's pick of the week. Regular price is $1.99. DRAWNIMAL is available for iOS (designed for both iPhone and iPad), and can be downloaded from the iTunes App Store

App to Learn How to Draw Everything On Your iOS Device From YouTube

Wanna learn how to draw a cat? Or a Alien? Maybe a Dinosaur!? Whatever you want to learn to draw, there's probably a YouTube video on that. The following app has entered the search term for you, and has categorized heaps of topics.

The app is called, How to Draw Everything FREE! Easy Drawing Lessons & Art Ideas From YouTube How To Videos by Michael Quach.

The app is all about learning to draw from videos on YouTube. What do you need this app for? That's a very good question. As all this app appears to be is a categorized, YouTube, with a banner advertisement. Which I believe is actually against YouTube's policies (Section 4.D), Because this app does not contain any real content of it's own to justify an advertisement.

To say something positive about this app... it uses iOS 7's design, so it matches the system UI. The videos are all sorted - good for if you don't know what you want to search for. It's free, of course it is! That's about it...

So in conclusion, YouTube has a lot of great videos to help teach you how to draw. So go search on YouTube

How to Draw Everything FREE! is available from the App Store for iOS devices (designed for iPhone).

(Kids App): Learn How To Draw Dinosaurs on iPad with iLuv Drawing Dinosaurs HD - iOS App Review

iLuv Drawing Dinosaurs HD - Learn how to draw dinosaurs step by step

$2.99 (Free for Limited Time)  - iPad
$0.99 - iPhone /  iPod Touch

Kids will love drawing with the iLuv Drawing Dinosaurs app, available for iOS.

In this app, your kids can learn to draw, with step by step tracing instructions and with voice guidance.

There are 19 different kid-ish cartoon looking Dinosaurs available to choose from.
Dinosaurs include the: T-Rex, Stegosaurs, Velociraptor, Triceratops, Pterodactyl and many more... If you feel like free-styling it, there's also a blank page available.

There are many tools including: Paint brush & pencils with many colors to choose from. Texture brush with different types of patterns and textures to choose from. Paint bucket tool to quickly fill in large areas.  There's a eraser, undo button, clip art images to add to your drawings and different backgrounds to finish off your image.

You can save your image into the apps drawings book, where you can edit your drawings later. Or you can save your drawing to your devices photo album. Also options to email or print.

While the app is intuitive, there is some learning. Like holding buttons down for a few seconds to open, or what each button does. But after a few drawing you'll quickly learn how to use the app.

My only criticism would be, some lines on the Dino's, like the body lines, crosses over the legs. You can see what I mean in my T-Rex drawing at the top of the page. I'm sure the kids won't find the over lapping lines a problem, but it's incorrect and this is a learning app.

Kids will love learning how to draw with the iLuv Drawing app. And if they want more things to draw, there are also many other drawing apps from the creators available including; Vehicles, Monsters, People, Santa, Animals, and more. You can find all the apps available on the learnwithfunapps.com website.

There is a iPad and iPhone/iPod Touch version of iLuv Drawing Dinosaurs available. They are not universal apps, so if you want both you'd need to buy both. Personally, I wouldn't recommend the iPhone app just because drawing on a iPhone screen can be really difficult due to the size.

And no Android version yet, either. Android version is also coming soon.

Kids Easter Themed Apps - Easter Rush - App Review

Continuing my Easter themed app reviews is Easter Rush By iLogos inc.

The Easter bunny is tipping the eggs off a bridge ...for some reason, and it's up to you to catch them in the basket below.

All you need to do is move the basket from left to right and collect the eggs while avoiding other falling items.

There is 80 playable levels in 4 different themed stages.

Could be great fun for kids.  On the downside: Unfortunately Easter Rush crashed a lot for me, especially on start-up. And the app does have a bit of a loading lag.

Easter Rush is available for iPad, iPod Touch and iPhone, free to try, full game costs $0.99 through a in-app purchase. There are also advertisements in the app - not sure if these go away if you purchase the full game.

Kids Easter Coloring Book for iPad, iPhone - Easter Bunny Eggs ColoringBook FREE

Awesome coloring right? Okay maybe not, it's hard to color perfectly on a iPhone or iPad and when you color it in just about a minute.

Easter Bunny Eggs ColoringBook FREE By TickTap, gives you pretty much what the title says, a Easter themed digital coloring book.

Great for kids, it keeps the coloring in the book and not on the walls and furniture.

Coloring on a iPad, iPod Touch or iPhone isn't that easy, it's hard to be really precise and the resulting coloring can't be put up on a fridge, so it obviously lacks the real elements of coloring.

But anyway for a digital coloring book, there are a range of different colors.  Three categories of images; Easter Bunny, Spring Time, Easter Eggs.

Share image via email or you can save the colored images to the devices Photo album, however the saved image isn't a high resolution.

There are advertisements that appear in the app - something to keep in mind if you're not coloring with your kid.

It's not the most graphical or well designed app, but it works and is a free solution.

Easter Bunny Eggs ColoringBook FREE is available and designed for both iPhone and iPad.

Kids Easter Egg Coloring Book! - iPad, iPhone - App Review

If you saw my last review of a Easter coloring book, you're probably thinking my coloring got a lot better. Well not quite.

With Easter Egg Coloring Book!By Peep Software, you can cheat by using the Bucket Mode tool to fill in areas making coloring on a iDevice a lot easier! You can also still use the paint brush tool and finger paint your picture if you prefer.

Easter Egg Coloring Book! Features 21 images to color, with 60 colors to choose from, will keep the kids entertained for a while.

Great tools to choose from: Paint Brush to finger paint, Bucket Mode to fill areas, Zoom to paint those small areas, and a eraser to clear a mistake.

The images aren't very high quality unfortunately. Which you can tell when you zoom in. They seem to be made for the size of your screen.

There are also ads on screen and that pop up - removing them will cost $0.99.

You can save your coloring to the in-built gallery, then save them to your device and share them.

Easter Egg Coloring Book! is free for a limited time and is designed and available for both iPad and iPhone.
