You may have thousands of photos and videos on your iPhone or iPad and that may be the only place you have them stored.
But what if something happens to your device? What if you didn't use Apple's Photostream or even backup to iCloud or iTunes? Then you've really lost all your pictures and memories.
Backing up your data is always a good idea - the more copies the better. Even better if you have three copies of each stored in at least 3 different places (Eg: Computer, Cloud storage and physical media like a DVD disc.)
If you're not backing up your pictures and videos to your computer, it's a good idea to start doing so. Most computer savvy people will know how to do this - in case you don't know how here's the instructions to copy your data from your iPhone on a Windows computer:
And in case you didn't understand all that from the image, here's the instructions:
- First connect your device to your computer.
- Open Computer application.
- You should see your device under Portable Devices. Open it up.
- Then will be Internal Storage, open this too.
- Then a folder called DCIM.
- In the DCIM folder will be other folders with random number / letter names. In these folders will be your photos and videos.
- You can now open up each of these folders and copy your data to a location on your computer.
