Best word to describe the weather app, Solar by Hollr, Inc., is: Minimal.

Solar is a very simple, modern, minimal weather app with gesture based navigation.

The display shows the date, time, the temperature, a short description about the weather and the location.

The background features a gradient with the bottom representing the temperature and the top, the current weather. The top gradient also features some animations, like falling rain.

The gestures include:

- Swipe down to see a 3 day forecast.

- Slow swipe up to see what the temperature will be over the next 24 hours.

- Swipe across to see different set locations.

- Pinch / or double tap to view all set location and settings. Press and hold to enter the edit function where you can remove or rearrange locations.


Options include:

- Turn "Feels Like" On/Off - not sure if this replaces the current temperature on the screen as I only saw one, but it wrote the same.

- Vibration - not sure what this is for.

- Celsius or Fahrenheit, and an option to invite friends.

Solar is beautifully simple. But for my taste, too simple.

It's great for just seeing whether or not it's raining and the temperature. But it lacks details.
Things like being used to seeing 7-day forecasts makes only 3-days seem lacking.
With weather, I like seeing some info like; what was the max temperature, wind, conditions, chance of rain, and so on...

Okay, so I've established that this app may not be right for me, however it is good. It's minimal design makes the app great in it's own way. It's not full of information or animations and weather icons, but that's what makes Solar great.

If you're only wanting to see basic weather info and don't like fancy weather icons, buy Solar, it's simplicity is awesome.
