Mailbox made by Orchestra, Inc. and recently bought by Dropbox, is a new style email app, that's getting so much attention that it places new users on a reservation list.
With a live number countdown, you can actually see your position in line. Getting access to Mailbox after downloading the app, could be up to a weeks wait with a good 40,000+ users currently waiting.
So is Mailbox really worth the wait? ...I say, yes!
Mailbox is really useful for users who get a lot of email. Mailbox is set around the idea of getting your inbox to zero.
Using gestures, you'll in no time fly though your messages by:
- Swiping a message right to archive,
- Swipe long to the right to send a message to the trash,
- Swipe left to mark a message for later where you be asked when you want to be alerted again, either later today, this evening, tomorrow, this weekend, next week, in a month, 'someday', or chose a date.
- Or a long left swipe to add to a list.
From the main screen you have quick access with buttons on top for inbox, 'later' message, your archive and a write new message button.
There are also options to add multiple Gmail accounts and to show App Badges.
Mailbox currently will only work with Gmail accounts, and compared to Google's Gmail app, I think Mailbox has a better user interface, is quicker / loads faster, and just overall feels better to use.
Even if you use Mailbox for nothing more than just a different mail app 'skin', I'd say it's still worth it. But the best features is really the way to get to the important emails and 'move' the others out of the way.
Mailbox is a FREE app, and is available for iPhone.
